
Time is an Illusion
Interactive Media - Short Film
Project Objective:
The objective would be to think of interaction in media art in a macro level, outside the gallery and installation context.
Softwares Used:

Task 1: Understanding Active and Passive UX
Knowing the fundamentals of active and passive UX was important in order to understand how persuasive design works. Thus the task was to use a modern day application and research on its UX design that persuades the users to perform a certain task. My app of choice was Netflix and my research is shown below.

Netflix is doing a good job in guiding its users since most of the features that has been highlighted falls under the “Assist” quadrant.

Features like ‘My List’, ‘Continue Watching’, and ‘Search Bar, allows users to quickly get the shows that they want without giving much thought about it.

However, features like ‘Next Episode Button, and the ‘Percentage Match, persuade the viewers to make decisions that results in them spending more time on the platform.

This has given me more awareness of my interaction with Netflix. From now on, I will think twice before clicking on the ‘Next Episode Button’.
Task 2: Intrepretion of Interaction with Time

The Objective of this Art Installation is for the viewers to feel and experience the world of Retro-Causality. By making choices for the main character of the short-film, it would seem like for the viewers that they are taking control of the storyline. However, since the timeline for this story is created to be a loop, by the end of the film, the viewers will find out that 'what has happened, has already happened' and they actually did not have any control over the storyline.

The Art Installation aims to leave them with two main concepts to think about. Firstly, they can think about which options were the cause and which options were the effect in each scenario.

Secondly they are brainstorm about how would life feel like if time is actually an illusion and an never ending loop.
